Update 7 - Yearbook Profile - The Socialite

Onto the Socialite! Let's make sure that this does what I want it to do, it's supposed to be one of the wealthy people doing what they do best. Avoiding accountability, making friends, and getting others to do your work for you.

Changes:

  1. I was debating making it so that the only thing you could be as a socialite is a "have" and not have an option to be a "have not." I decided against it because while I think the Profile was designed with that in mind it works better when you have options. It's on me to make them more flexible.
  2.  Changed Is It Done? so that you have to give a reason why people need to attack someone. I've also changed it so that the moves also becomes a list that you choose from. I think it provides a lot more interesting things.
  3. Changed Biggest Name in Town so that it was more "have or have not" language. You don't need to be powerful, you can just be well liked or connected.
  4. Changed You've been listening to Radiohead, haven't you? because I was looking at the "Turn Someone On Moves" and I know that there was a changes in Monsterhearts to add an "act awkward" option because a lot of people felt that it pushed too hard towards sex and didn't provide an out for people, and also kind of ignored the reality of a-sexual folks.

With that in mind, I feel it's useful idea but not quite really meaningful stylistically or mechanically. It doesn't really give the players a lot to go on, or it provides an out for tension and drama. I was thinking about how I can address that in the "Turn Someone On" moves, one is that it's not a basic move, but if you want that it's a move you have to choose instead. The second way is that I can mechanize "act awkward" with conditions. All of them allow for the person being acted upon to choose an emotional condition as an option. I went back and added it to the Delinquent and will be adding it moving forward.
  5.  Changed True Love Stories Never Have Endings because it felt like it wasn't doing what I wanted it to do. Then I tried to make it do what I want by making it even more complex and adding options and letting others choose things. Then I took a break because it was feeling like it was a little too much. Now it's changed to something very simple, when you open up to someone you once loved or currently love, any 6- roll is treated as a 7-9.
  6. Added Social Cachet which is a new move and something that kind of came up when I was going over this. I think this profile wants to fall in and out of love with people a lot, or at least have that option. It's kind of brutal, but I think it reflects something that I think does happen with this character type. I'm going to have to mull it over as I go through everything else, but it's interesting for sure.
