Update 10 - Yearbook Profile - The Plotter

The Plotter was another one that didn't make the Ashcan cut because it was a good idea, but was very heavy handed in regards to what it was meant to do. The goal with this yearbook profile was make schemes that can benefit your character, while at the same time protecting them from harm.

Originally it didn't have enough plotting, or the mechanics behind it weren't quite there, and it was a little too protected so it didn't seem to have any consequences. I want someone who can be a mastermind, and everyone knows is the mastermind, but requires just a little bit too much effort to take down to be worth it.

Changes:

  1. Changed Betting Against the City because it was too vague in both what it did and the results from the options. Rebuilt it from the ground up so it reads like this now.

    Betting Against The City
When you place a bet or make a deal with someone else, Roll+EYES.  On a 10+ explain how you come out ahead, but everyone else will tell you how long it takes. Then decide what extra bonus you get. On a 7-9, you come out ahead, but choose one: it takes longer than expected, the result has a problem with it, or someone you care about pays an unexpected price.
  2. Changed Shadow Puppeteer because it made it almost impossible to make the Plotter a suspect. It was you needed two clues to put make the Plotter a suspect and people just avoided it. Now, once per session, you can move a Clue from you to another suspect and you have to explain how that happened.
  3. Changed Kind of Cute to let another option someone can choose be to tell a secret, because I think what's fun is that you can use that depending on what other moves you use for example ...
  4. Changed You hit me and you'll suffer worse, I promise you allows you to use secrets as weapons to threaten people to do what you want so in conjunction with Kind of Cute you can build the kind of plotter that makes friends in order to use them.

The Plotter isn't meant to be a "good" character. It's a selfish Profile, and it's why it didn't originally make it into the Ashcan. It's one of the ones you'll need to play carefully so that you don't become just "the antagonist."
