Update 9 - First New Yearbook Profile - The Libertine

Now that all the ashcan profiles have been reworked, it's time to go over some of the ones that haven't been seen by those who haven't played with me at conventions testing it out.

I've been waiting to get this one to everyone so much. This is the Libertine.

The Libertine is the party character, they're all about having fun, and not caring about consequences. They don't care about what's going on even in their personal lives. They're there for their best friend, and they're around for a good time, even if they're the only one having it.

I unabashedly love the Libertine. This is the start of some of the playbooks that require a little bit more of the players than the five that are in the Ashcan. Those were chosen because they are a bit easier, a bit more straight forward. The Libertine doesn't really work unless your invested in playing the Libertine. It's not a passive Profile, you can just sit and let things happen, you have to be searching for the next good time, especially with your best friend.

The first time I tested it out, a person picked the Libertine and just ... didn't do anything. They didn't instigate stuff, they didn't initiate, they just kind of waited for the story to come to them and it never did. I was worried that was going to happen so I played tested it a bit more and found that it's one of the best times in the game if you put forward the effort.

That said, here are the changes I've made to it, in order to get it ready for the final version.

Changes:

  1. Changed You're like rich dude kryptonite to have it be you can shut people down and give them XP if they make you a worse friend. I like this move because it's a feeder move. You use it to cause drama, but you can also give things to other characters.
  2. Changed the Intimacy move to let the you get the move if you get laid or not, because the move If I could do that I wouldn't come to school explicitly states that even if you don't get laid and you use your move ... because self-love, is still love.

If I could do that, I’d never come to school
When you try to hit on someone, Roll+Soft.
On a 10+, if they choose to give themselves to you, score! If not you get to use your intimacy move because self-love … is still love.
On a 7-9, you get turned down, and get to use your intimacy move, but you get a condition or a cliffhanger.
  3. Cleaned up one of the questions in the Other Friendship section, just to make it a little more interesting.

OOooh cool to see this new type!

Yeah, the Libertine is such a good time. Seriously, I tend to stick between the Libertine and the Ingenue when I play because that's me. ^_^
